I have a feeling I’ve asked this question before and my answer is still this: I know it when I see it. Perhaps I’m really wondering where it comes from in the first place but I know that answer, too.

Come on, you don’t really believe that once upon a time a bunch of dust swirled around to make a pollywog and then we all fast forward into finding a way to get Neil and Buzz on the Moon. Or Mozart (and Knopfler!) just practiced way more than others. What does Simone de Beauvoir know anyway?

Working in the “the arts” is tough because even when we’re born with talent, without others around to help us grow and develop, we’re probably broke. And that situation often leads us to fall back on some other abilities while our real calling lies dormant.

Another thought: Wipe everything out I ever did before and start over.
