Lucky me. This is Lucky Boy, a rescued jaguar captive at a zoo about an hour’s drive from Belize City. Image © Jain Lemos.

We’re back from a fantastic trip to Central America and I’ll be posting some of the photos I took over the coming weeks. Starting out from Belize City our small group, led by the indefatigable travel photographer Cindy Miller Hopkins (represented by Danita Delimont), was treated to a visual feast through Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.

It’s been some time since I’ve had the luxury to shoot en plein air, and mostly I just fooled around without any particular goal in mind. Being outside in hot, steamy weather and swimming in that bright and incredible sea-green Caribbean was enough satisfaction for me; yet day after day, the visuals we encountered became more intriguing and challenging to capture.

Coming back to reality, I am inundated looking at  images being streamed non-stop to my brain. From print to web and in film and video, there are some excellent artists in our midst. I’m thoroughly inspired.

Take a minute to see Lucky Boy’s transformation here.
