I’m usually pretty fast at picking up new ways of working but when it comes to search engine methodology, I’m convinced it’s all a sneaky ploy to get me to sign up for more stuff so I can receive even more masses of spam email.
Why do they devise these evil systems that get in the way of being creative?! Here, the kind and patient soul Brian Dean gives some tips for people like me who hate SEO but are trying desperately to keep up with the process.
So I’m reading his advice and bam! There it is: “First you’ll need to use the Google Keyword Planner Tool (what?) and you’ll need a free Adwords account to use it (account?).” Free means you’ll be haunted forever.
There is even a Periodic Table of SEO in a place called Search Engine Land. Hey, it worked for Vince Gilligan. But the message is loud and clear that keywords and metadata and categories and tags and excerpts and millions of tiny little flags have to be waived in order to be found in this bottomless pit of pixels.
Every once in a while you have to shoot up a flare to be noticed. I wondered what a digital flare might look like and Ryan Manning has the SEO on that one!

Majority of people who are running small business just love SEO due to its reliable results but I am shocked to read that you are thinking it as obsession and hate SEO system. No doubt there are alternate techniques are available for marketing a business, products and services but I think SEO is a batter way from all.
I start to believe that really efficient SEO people don’t exist, most of these geniuses have no clue of what running a business means, find their wonderful ideas through algorithms and statistics, and when they have no idea why your “absolutely-not-stupid-rich-and-interesting-well-written- linked-genuinely-illustrated-beautiful-yoasted-all green-website-content” doesn’t even appears in the 15 pages of google part-of-town local search”, they incriminate you for not writing enough on blogs, forums, and other social networks. Do they know that when you have finished your work day, you don’t want, and you shouldn’t have to sit again front of your pc to write stories about stories to get exposure on internet? Isn’t that all a joke? I start to believe that all these guys do not deserve the importance that they allow to themselves. They fear the so called “Black Hat”, shouting everywhere that God Google is going to find the villains, point at them and make them disappear , but I believe that the truth is that they just don’t know how it really all works and they fear to loose their jobs. So they tell frightning stories to the common mortals to carry on making money off their ignorance. (at least mine, and I know 2 or 3 things about SEO though.). I know many websites that are violating all the rules such as multi businesses at the same address, duplicated content, or no content at all for some!, no keywords, basic Frontpage 98 look, no blog, no social network either, and still stay at the very best ranks. So? However, what I found, is that these (sometimes) rubbish places in top results have an excellent amount of backlinks, that I believe is THE BIG AND ONLY THING to score these days. So basically Google got it wrong another time. Once upon a time you just had to stuff your content with KWs and voila!, now you have to stuff with backlinks, So where is the logic in there? The beautiful story of the great content is a myth and is definitely not in force. (if it was, I would be at the top of my local little niche). For now, the time is still at cheating and tricking the system. Now if you are still reading I have something else to say. The so called clean and “White hat SEO’s” warn the world about the bad guys who are farming links- AND GET RESULTS-, saying it’s just for a moment etc… But the truth is that website design companies that have enough clients in their portfolio do exactly (and succesfully) the same thing, but in that case they call that good and relevant backlinks… To finish, I’d like to point that my best results have happened when I was using “article writing” and link farming. Then I tried the “good guys” method. Bad Idea, I spend hundreds and more with them for no result whatsoever. So I think I’m going to stop trying and go back to what really works. for free!
Serge, I am with you!
