Bob always looked great, too, no matter how much crap he had been dragged through. Did you know he was a poet? But I digress…

One of the reasons I wanted to start posting again is because of the warnings I’ve heard about rights grabs through the sneaky Terms of Service many social sharing sites subject us to. Is there anything we can do about them? Well for one, ASMP advises us to share smart by posting links from publication platforms we control ourselves.

What else is happening while we are busy downloading apps and upgrades? Recently, NPPA took on the White House for blocking any “real” access. I posted twice about this advocacy on Facebook and got only a few likes. Really? Aren’t you concerned about that?

ASPP joined the protest against Instagram’s terms and the demand for a take-down of Microsoft’s Office web page “Images” in its current state. If we don’t keep the pressure on, who will?

Have you heard Sam Stewart’s talk on altered news photos? Disturbing, isn’t it?

History is full of idiots who don’t heed warnings. Edward John Smith is usually the first example. Those blowing whistles are laughed at, ignored or worse. Imagine what Harry Markopolos went through for almost a decade! In fact, Cohen Media Group made a movie about how he became utterly fearful for his life. But he was willing to continue because it was the right thing to do.

Mitchum got the roles of the righteous but in real life he is dead. Maybe he heard the warnings about smoking leading to lung cancer too late or long after he didn’t have the strength or care to quit. And as for me, give me transparency and accuracy wherever and whenever possible. Join me?
