I was recently asked if I had an example of an ad to get models for shoots. Of course I do!
Here is a sample of how I’ve done it before. Please feel free to use, share and adapt:
We are currently casting talent for XYZ project and looking for active males and females between 25-35. We are not holding live casting sessions so your photo is our in-person casting equivalent!
Please submit current new photos to {email/website}:
- We understand that there is not time to have new professional shots taken.
- We are not expecting hair and make-up to be professionally done.
- We need simple digital photos to see how you look today and to check hair style, current weight, rough wardrobe measurements, etc.
- Photos can be taken with any smartphone or point-and-shoot digital camera by a partner, neighbor, child or friend (no selfies!).
- Do not retouch or alter the photos.
- Submit only color images, not black-and-white or with filtered effects such as Instagram.
- Take photos outside in natural, available light or in a naturally lit room—avoid using flash.
- Please provide no more than six shots and include full length standing, full body sitting, full face and profile close-ups.
- File format must be jpg and sizes should be 72 dpi at a minimum of approximately 800 pixels on the longest side.
- Name the digital photo files as such: FirstName_LastName_01 and so on.
Include all contact information with your submission. We will make our final talent determinations based on these new photos and you will be notified at least 24 hours in advance if you are selected.
This is a flat rate, non-union, direct casting shoot for $____/day/hour. You will be required to present photo ID and sign the attached model release and present it on arrival at location.
Call is at ____________ AM/PM on Tuesday, ____________, 2014 in the Los Angeles area. Please do not submit photos if you aren’t 100% sure you are available on this day. We won’t save your photos for future projects plus we’ll be mad if we like your look only to find out you had other plans!
